Polish Thoughts - Revlon Colorstay Pale Cashmere

It's been a while since I've sat down and painted my nails. But since mid semester break is coming up, I thought I would take a chill pill this afternoon and spend some good old therapeutic time decorating my nails before gearing up for the massive study marathon towards finals starting from, hopefully, tomorrow.

After going through my seemingly endless collection of lacquers, I finally decided on something pastel and demure since I'll be going to a flower show this weekend.

Star of the show: Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel in 020 Pale Cashmere

Shade: very pale baby pink, and when I say pale, I mean very pale. Almost to the point where it appears white in some lights. For comparison, this shade is a touch lighter than the famous Essie Fiji. Personally, I believe this shade is office appropriate for those who work in a slightly more conservative environment where wearing vibrant colours might be a little too much. If you love Essie's Fiji and would like to venture a shade whiter, I believe this is perfect for you.

Consistency: straight out of the bottle, this polish as a somewhat creamy consistency and appears quite opaque on the brush. When applying, be careful of how much you load onto the brush every time you dip in to pick up more colour as the polish tends to travel down to the tip of the brush pretty quickly.

Brush: unlike the OPI or Essie brushes I'm used to, this brush feels somewhat round. I'll explain what I mean. I found myself constantly twisting the cap round and round after every dip back into the bottle to find a flat side for me the brush the colour onto my nails. The roundness of the brush made application more difficult compared to my OPI, Essie and even Butter London polishes which glide on beautifully and distribute the colour evenly. I feel like it was a little difficult to control and apply but with some practice, it's not a big issue.

Application: bottom line, don't be fooled. What you see is most definitely not what you get, unless you're willing to work for it. This polish is very streaky upon application and it takes a lot of patience to get to the opacity you see from the bottle. I had to apply 4 coats before I was satisfied with the finish. But if you're willing to work for it and built up the opacity, the finish is really quite lovely and brightens up the hands with a hit of pink in the right lights.

Longevity: true to its name, this polish is indeed quite long-wearing and has lasted a week on my nails without too much sustaining too much damage. Of course, much of the credit goes to my Essie Protein Base Coat and the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat, both of which helped prolong the wear time of all my polishes.

All in all, I am quite happy with the shade and am sure I will get a lot of wear out of this shade, especially to the office. I wish the brush was flatter and the consistency was creamier and less runny, however after several coats, the finish I get is really lovely.

A true classic worthy of your collection.

Until next time,
Jemlinc
